Prawns thokku



Yields : 3-4 servings

Ingredients:

1. Prawns- 350 g approx. (deveined)
2. Onions- 1 1/2 medium finely chopped
3. Tomato- 2 medium finely chopped
4. Green chillies- 2 small slit
5. Chilli powder- 1/2 tsp - 3/4 tsp
6. Coriander powder- 1 tsp
7. Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
8. Garam masala- 1/2 tsp
9. Salt- to taste
10. Ginger-garlic paste- 1 tsp
11. Fennel seeds- 1/4 tsp
12. Cinnamon stick- 1/2 inch
13. Cardamom- 1
14. Curry leaves- few
15. Coriander leaves- to garnish
16. Mustard seeds- 1/4 tsp
17. Oil- 2 tbsp

Method:





1. Marinate the prawns for half an hour with some salt, chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and a bit of ginger garlic paste.



2. Meanwhile heat oil in a pan and add cinnamon, cardamom, fennel seeds and fry for few secs. Then and mustard seeds to splutter.



3. Add onions, curry leaves and green chillies. Saute until onion turns translucent. Then add ginger garlic paste and saute until its raw smell goes.



4. Add tomatoes and saute till it turns tender and mushy.



5. Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and saute well until the oil leaves from the sides.



6. Add marinated prawns and required salt to the masala. Mix well and add 1/4 cup of water and let it cook by covered.



7. When the prawns are well cooked and oil leaves from the sides, add the garam masala and stir for a min. Garnish with coriander leaves and switch off the flame.

Serve this yummy prawns thokku with rice, chapathi, dosa etc. Enjoy!!
